Fever Facts
Fever happens when the body's internal "thermostat" raises the body temperature above its normal level. This thermostat is found in a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus knows what temperature your body should be (usually around 98.6°F/37°C) and will send messages to your body to keep it that way.
Most people's body temperatures even change a little bit during the course of the day: It's usually a little lower in the morning and a little higher in the evening and can vary as kids run around, play, and exercise.
Sometimes, though, the hypothalamus will "reset" the body to a higher temperature in response to an infection, illness, or some other cause. Why? Researchers believe turning up the heat is the body's way of fighting the germs that cause infections and making the body a less comfortable place for them
In healthy kids, fevers usually don't indicate anything serious. Although it can be frightening when your child's temperature rises, fever itself causes no harm and can actually be a good thing — it's often the body's way of fighting infections. And not all fevers need to be treated. High fever, however, can make a child uncomfortable and make problems (such as dehydration) worse

Personal Hygiene
Poor daily hygiene is one of the major contributors to itching. The accumulation of sweat, dead skin cells, bacteria, fungi and sometimes even urine and fecal particles in the groin region collectively act as an irritant to the skin. It may not pose a problem within a short period but if a person skips bathing frequently or does not wash the groin area thoroughly, it can lead to itching, skin rashes and even infections. Daily bathing is therefore important. In addition, improper cleaning of the genitals and bottom after urinating and defecating can also pose a problem. Both urine and feces are skin irritants when in contact with the skin for prolonged periods

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that up to 80% of all infections are transmitted by hands and recommends that you wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with clean, warm running water and soap.
Good hygiene habits start early
Having good hygiene habits involves more than just hand-washing. Teaching your kids to have a healthy hygiene routine when they’re young can create habits that last throughout their lives. .

The American Academy of Pediatrics states that “hand washing may be the single most important act you and your child have for disease prevention.” They also say that antibacterial soaps are not necessary, because plain soap and water do the job just fine. It also doesn’t hurt to keep a few bottles of hand sanitizer around the house for quick cleaning between soap & water scrubs, but these alcohol based sanitizers are not as effective when hands are visibly dirty or greasy, so use sparingly.
Is Your Child Too Sick for School?
A sniffle. A cough. A sore throat. Children come down with illnesses big and small. Some are contagious, but some aren’t.
How do you know when to keep your child home from school?
Ask Yourself 3 Things
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends you answer a few key questions.
1. Does your child have a fever? Fevers of 101 F or more are generally a sign of illness, so children should stay home from school.
2. Is your child well enough to participate in class? If she-he seems too run down to get much out of her-his lessons, keep her home.
3. Does she have an illness like the flu or pinkeye? If you think she might, don't let her go back to school until you know he's not contagious anymore.

topic of the day:
SNACKS AT SCHOOL
Snacks should be a small portion of food and are NOT meant to be a substitute for breakfast. Fruit and vegetable pieces should be cut into bite-size pieces. A few grapes, a few crackers in a baggie, a few chunks of cheese, is more than enough.
When considering a snack for your child to eat at school please remember that fruit roll-ups, fruit gummies, poptarts, all cookies, candy bars, chips, brownies and most cereal bars are NOT healthy food choices

Sunday
Good Morning Dear Parents, please read the following text:
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Students who do not eat breakfast can experience stomach aches, headaches, nausea and dizziness. School-age children, have bodies and brains growing quickly and often need this refueling in the morning. When they skip breakfast, they often do not have the nutrition needed for the school day to be successful.
Have A great day
Fatimah :)
